The Doctrine Of The Holy Spirit by Dr. Ong Meng Chai

Synopis

At a time when there is ignorance, exaggeration or confusion over the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church today, we need to discover what the whole Bible teaches about Him. In this seminar we seek to address these tendencies by looking, first of all, at some modern perspectives on the Holy Spirit before examining the biblical perspective of the Person and work of the Holy Spirit both in the Old and New Testaments. Special emphasis will be given to Jesus’ teaching about the Holy Spirit’s present work in our world, and also the testimony of the book of Acts in particular, which serves as the earliest historical account of the Holy Spirit’s work in our day and age. The aim is to help us recover a more Biblical and holistic understanding of the Person and work of the Holy Spirit so that we are better prepared for what He can and will do in our individual lives, in the Church, and in the world today.

About The Speaker

Dr. Ong Meng Chai served as a pastor for 18 years in two Churches (Faith Evangelical Free Church, Kuala Lumpur, and Tollington Park Baptist Church, London, UK) before being appointed as a Lecturer in Theology at Seminari Theoloji Malaysia (STM) where he taught for 9 years. Upon his retirement from the seminary in June 2019, he served as the Associate Director of Centre for Expository Preaching, Petaling Jaya, for 3 years. Now fully retired from full-time Christian ministry, he is actively engaged as an itinerant preacher and teacher in local Churches. He is an ordained minister of the Evangelical Free Church of Malaysia, and has a PhD in Theology from King’s College London. He is married to Sandra, and they have an adult son. He has published a book, I Have Played the Fool: Lessons From the Life of Saul (STM Series), and has contributed a chapter, “He is Not Ashamed (Psalm 22)” in Sermons on the Psalms (STM Series)
